Dr Nicky Rivers

Dr Nicola Rivers, MCIEEM Nicky has been Ecology Manager at Sheffield City Council since June 2024, where she is heading up the Ecology Service, including leading on Biodiversity Net Gain implementation.

Prior to this role she has spent nearly 17 years at the Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust where she developed landscape projects and led on the Trust’s Taking Action for Nature strategic priority. This included advocating for nature’s protection and recovery through the planning system, policy work and campaigns to directly address the nature and climate crises.

In her early career she developed skills and experience in zoology research and ecological consultancy. She has over 25 years of experience working with partners and communities to develop and deliver strategic nature recovery plans.
